Casa de Indias is truly the dreamiest oasis I’ve ever stayed in. You wouldn’t expect this hidden gem in the bustling, lively, and loud streets of the walled city of Cartagena.

Step inside the beautiful blue doors and you find a space that is thoughtfully decorated down to every detail overflowing with character.

The house feels authentic and oh-so-charming, with lush tropical plants tumbling down the aged walls and beautiful textiles and print mixing. You breezily move through the numerous bedrooms, free-flowing living and dining areas, perfect for big groups enjoying pre-dinner (and post-dinner!) drinks and beautiful dinners in the high-ceiling dining room. It’s the best place to host some wonderful dinners where the chef and kitchen put together the most delicious meals. The house feels lived in and just like your own home, yet a team a staff is there to help with everything to make your stay effortless and relaxing. It truly has the most wonderful feel to it, an eclectic-ness and feel-good-vibe that you yearn for in every luxury rental. I’ll be back as soon as I can.

Casa de Indias is a truly unique and wonderful slice of heaven! The house itself is spectacular, the beauty, the color, and the details are amazing across every inch of it. It is a perfect combination of historic charm, the Cartagena colors and feel, and luxurious comfort. Every bedroom and room has a unique look and feel. The patios are tropical oases, and the rooftop has the best views (and jacuzzi) in all of Cartagena!

We have been truly spoilt on both visits but an amazing team of staff as well.

Every meal is creative and fresh, and the arepas in the morning never get old! Tables are always set to perfection. The staff is warm, respectful, and have a high attention to detail. They often greet you with cold fresh coconut water after a hot and salty day! The organization with the boat is seamless as well.I could not recommend Casa de Indias more! It is a beautiful, luxurious and authentic way to experience the amazing town of Cartagena!”

Wow where to start with Casa De Indias. One of the most beautiful rental homes I have ever stayed at and would definitely recommend to anyone who is looking for an incredible house that has it all and most importantly feels like home. Everything is a highlight, from the delicious meals at home, incredible team that looks after you in every way possible and a house offers you the most authentic Cartagena experience. With its prime location, you’re just a five minute walk from where the speed boat, captained by the charming Gilberto, picks you up and you are steps away from the vibrant energetic streets of Cartagena and local restaurants.

A few musts when you are there: watch the sunset from the “mirador” terrace on the top floor (360 panoramic views of Cartagena), eat lots of arepas con huevo for breakfast, enjoy the delicious lunches and dinners prepared by their chef, enjoy the countless open living areas and lush filled terraces for drinks, take a good “siesta” nap in the beautifully decorated bedrooms, take advantage of the incredible concierge service to organize boat days – an excursion that takes you to Cholon, Baru and Islas del Rosario!

I’m already dreaming about my next trip there!.

A stay in Casa de Indias is sublime. The house is a feast for the eyes, with an internal patio lush in local vegetation, a jacuzzi in the top tower that provides the best views in town of sunset, and an eclectic, colorful decor curated by the talented owner Lina Botero.Chef Javier Diaz’s ceviches can compete against the best in the world, dinners at home are highly recommended to break-up the excellent dining found in the local restaurants. And make sure to order “arepas con huevo” for breakfast, they are the best in town!

The service in this luxury rental is second to none, provided by a friendly and attentive team.

Casa de Indias comes with a very comfortable speed boat captained by the ever-smiling Gilberto. Heading out to the islands of El Rosario, Cholón, and Barú is a must during the day. Just make sure depending on the season, to hold your hats on the afternoon returns to Cartagena when the seas become quite fierce!

We’ve just returned from the most amazing week in Cartagena where we stayed at Casa de Indias which is a spectacular luxury rental in the absolute best location in the Old City.

The incredibly beautiful Casa de Indias is owned by glamorous Colombian-born globetrotter Lina Botero and her colorful and tropical chic permeates every corner of the historic house. The center courtyard features a lush garden and swimming pool which provides the most idyllic setting for long and lazy breakfasts as well as spirited and seductive cocktails after dark. The perfectly appointed guestrooms are each unique, beautifully decorated and full of every amenity and detail one could think of. The main living room is stunning and there were lots of beautiful seating areas on different levels where we could get together or curl up alone with a good book.

In addition, everyone in the family loved hanging out in and around the jacuzzi on the roof of the tower which has a wraparound view of colonial Cartagena.

Have I mentioned the staff? They were simply incredible, always smiling and attentive to our every need and the talented chef created dinners (and breakfasts) that we will remember for a long time. Cartagena has so much to offer in terms of excursions, dining and shopping and the professional yet discreet concierge service provided at Casa de Indias took care of every detail so all we had to do is relax and enjoy it all. By the way, boating to the stunning Rosario Islands is a must (we went almost every day!) and the Casa de Indias concierge organized it all on the speedboat Aqualuna that is captained by their very professional and charming skipper Gilberto. Casa de Indias surpassed our expectations; it’s really the perfect destination for a dream vacation with family and friends.

This house, with its discreet-looking door when viewed from the street, makes you revive the Cartagena of the past. The spaces are a delight. From its old balcony covered with vines you can appreciate the life on the street. The patina of the old walls, the tones, and colors, will fill your spirit with sensations!

The famous decorator Lina Botero revived this palace, honoring the spaces and accommodating “le palais au gout du jour”

The rooms are unique, each one decorated differently and with a great taste. From the roof terrace you have an extraordinary view of the illuminated cathedrals and churches, and enjoy of a magical sunset from the jacuzzi.

A unique experience worth living!

There is a difference between renting a house, and renting a home. This magical place belongs to the second category. The attention to detail, the impeccable way the house has been restored to keep its authenticity and colonial vibe, whilst offering the highest standards in comfort and amenities are a very rare quality.

The balcony, the pool, the Jacuzzi on the rooftop, the staff…. you don’t get a key for the house. Someone is always there to open the door to your home in Cartagena.

This is a unique place, and it is certainly one of my favorite properties in the world. It became my home in Cartagena. Staying somewhere else in the future would be cheating.

Casa de Indias captures the true essence and soul of Cartagena, it’s colours, lush green plants in the courtyard, the magical sunset & papaya colored walls that glow in the sunlight, even in the silence you feel the beat of salsa…

Walking through the door, always welcomed by genuine warm smiles & a cool refreshing drink, I leave wanting to return to a place that instantly feels like home.

I also wake up dreaming of the most delicious “arepas con huevo” for breakfast. Casa de Indias makes my heart sing… for what is always a perfect holiday.

Casa de Indias is the single most magical place in Cartagena. The colors, the sounds, the smells entice you. The music follows you, and you collect life’s most precious currencies: Unforgettable memories!
